We’ve all suffered from a ‘bad hair’ day, but for some it’s never ending. It’s so frustrating to put so much time and effort into your hair, only to have it looking constantly flat, and dull. Fortunately, your ‘bad hair’ days can be a thing of the past – just read the excellent information that is in this article!

For healthy hair, do not brush your hair while it’s wet. Wet hair tends to be fragile, a lot more so than dry hair, which will make it break much easier. To reduce the risk of damage, brush your hair prior to getting into the shower or wait until it is completely dry, then comb it.

Drink more water! Your hair needs water to thrive especially during the winter months. Increasing your water intake will help no matter what your hair type is. Start carrying a bottle with you and make sure that you are going through at least a few bottles every day. Your hair will thank you.

When your hair looks dull, it makes sense to utilize clarifying shampoos. Lifeless, dull hair is usually caused by build-up of hair products. To avoid this, use a clarifying shampoo a couple times a week so that all gunk and hair product buildup is stripped clean from the hair.

Don’t use your bristle hairbrush on wet hair. Always use a comb or pick on your beautiful wet tresses. A hairbrush encourages breakage and split ends. Just lightly towel dry your hair and remove tangles by gently combing through your hair with a wide-toothed comb, or even your fingers. Allow to air dry whenever possible to minimize heat damage.

Get a haircut every six to nine weeks to keep your hair looking its best. Over time, your hair will break and the ends will split. This creates uneven layers that make your hair look unhealthy and dull. Getting frequent haircuts will help to keep the ends from splitting all the way up to the roots, and help keep your hair shinier and healthier.

Wet your hair before you jump in your pool. If you allow your hair to absorb fresh water before jumping in, it will not absorb as much of the damage causing chlorine. Your hair will not dry out as badly if you take this step each and every time you swim in chlorinated water.

Do not use a brush on wet hair. Using a brush on hair that is wet subjects the hair to breakage. Instead of using a brush on your hair when it’s wet, use a comb to detangle it. Your hair will suffer from less breakage than if you used a brush.

When you are applying conditioner to your hair, use a wide-toothed comb. This helps to distribute the conditioner evenly to all of your hair shafts. Also, the comb running through the length of the hair will help to prevent tangles. Using this method will help you have shiny, healthy-looking, tangle-free hair.

Try cutting your own hair. Going to a salon every 6 weeks for a hair trim could cost you a lot of money, so learning to cut your hair can then save you lots of cash. Tons of tutorial videos are on YouTube that show you how to cut your own hair effectively.

As you read in this article, there is no need to suffer with flat, dull hair for a minute longer. There are a few simple things that you can do to have a gorgeous head of hair. By using these tips, and techniques you will soon find that your hair is bouncy, healthy, and a real ‘head turner’!
